in the 1940s these would have been sweetheart lockets to remember someone you were temporarily apart from. most often found in gold fill over brass, this is the higher end version with sterling silver beneath the gold, which means that as the gold fill wears away you're still left with a precious metal

C O N D I T I O N

in good very vintage condition

plenty of scratches, dents and dings throughout the locket, as well as thick, time-earned patina in the design details and throughout the locket's harder to reach corners

secure closure with a nice snap. there's a bit of rustaround the protrudinglock mechanism which is neither brass nor sterling

a tiny bit of residue inside the locket from where a photo was previously glued inside

the smaller bail is bent back slightly and has very inconsistent patina because of its construction
